1974 Gottlieb Far Out Pinball (4 player)

Description: Gottlieb Far Out pinball. Same game as Gottlieb Out of Sight pinball, just different number of players (4 players versus 2 players). Two banks of 5 drop targets, 3 pop bumpers, 2 slingshots, two 3" flippers, one side rebound kicker, and one side return ball gate. Interesting game play on this game. Usually when you knock down all the drop targets, they reset. But not on Farout, they stay down. If either side of five targets are all knocked down, double bonus lights. The two side lanes next to the drop targets also trigger the lower outlane diverters. The right side diverter puts the ball back into the shooter lane. The left side diverter swallows the ball for a moment, and then propells it back onto the playfield via a ball kicker. The hundred point relay triggers the pop bumpers on and off for 100/1000 points, moves the "10x when lit" lamp from side to side, moves the 50/500 point target from side to side, and moves the lit drop targets. If a lit drop target is hit, it gives 10x points (either 500 or 5000 points, depending on the "10x when lit" light's side position). Compared to an unlit drop that is either 50 or 500 points. End of ball bonus maxes out at 15,000 points. And at two operator adjustable bonus values, the lower side lanes light for special (replay).

Playfield touchup colors used: Americana Tangelo Orange DA196, Americana bright yellow DA227 (mix some Americana Warm White DA239 into the yellow for less transparancy, matches great after clearcoated), Americana Ocean Blue DA270 (do NOT use this color, bad match after clearcoated), Americana Lamp Ebony Black DA067, Palmer Holly Berry 171003 (mix some Americana Warm White DA239 into the red for less transparancy, matches great after clearcoated).

Gottlieb sold this game design in the two flavors, though they are essentially the exact same game (with slight artwork differences). The 2 player version (Out of Sight) had a lower price, and was marketed to game operators with less money to spend. They made 4820 Gottlieb FarOut pinballs, and 1750 Gottlieb Out of Sight pinball machines.
